Practical Liberation Theology for People Who Thought They Were Already Free

Liberation theology claims the thrust of scripture is freedom for all of creation. We become a force for communal liberation in the world as we ourselves are being freed internally. In this 6-week workshop, led by Sara Beth Terrell, we will explore Jesus’ proclamation of an alternative reality to the lived reality of the Roman empire. We will seek to become conscious of the forces of domination operating around us today, focusing particularly on how we individually and collectively collude with or resist those forces. We will ask again and again what is ours to be and do today—and what freedom to be and do that might look like. We’ll foster compassion for one another’s humanity—and for our own. 

Two in-person groups will meet in Greensboro, NC, Tuesdays 7-9 and Thursdays 1-3 beginning September 9 and ending October 16. Space is limited. Childcare is possible, if a need is determined. Registration is required. Email sarabethterrell@gmail.com with interest or questions.
